Dredging

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZL) provides Dredging and Reclamation solutions primarily for port and harbor construction. The Adani Group started investing in developing a dredging fleet in 2005 to achieve planned high paced growth in the port sector. It has been a major success story since then and APSEZL today operates a large fleet of 23 dredgers and of the largest capital dredging capacity in India.

APSEZ, besides owning dredgers, has a large fleet of support vessels and equipment such as Multi Utility Crafts, Survey vessels, Floating cranes, Jack up barges, etc. This equipment is operated and maintained by our team of over 1000 personnel. Well maintained dredgers, highly motivated and trained personnel, in-house innovative workshop, dry dock facilities and survey support are the vital strengths enabling efficient operation.

In the recent past the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India has proposed many development initiatives for marine infrastructure development in the coastal and inland waters of India. We, at APSEZ, are geared up with the precise equipment and expertise to ensure realization of such challenges in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Activities

We operate young and modern dredgers (of European make) with a professional team ensuring delivery to the client’s expectations. Our team uses the best in class technology to ensure that each equipment is optimally utilized. We operate the largest cutter suction dredging fleet in the subcontinent and a highly efficient maintenance dredging fleet as well.

APSEZL’s core strength has been in capital dredging. We own and operate 12 CSD’s of varying sizes and capacities which enables us in taking up a variety of work. We have 4 booster stations which can be utilized along with the dredgers for long distance pumping. Our fleet is supported by extensive offshore, onshore support equipment and pipelines.

Using our capital dredging equipment, we have successfully reclaimed land from the sea to create the largest coal import terminal in the world. Our in-depth knowledge and hands-on work culture enables us to take on a variety of challenging assignments.

Some of the offbeat projects that we have successfully implemented in the recent past are:

  • Creation of intake and outfall channels for power plants; including breaking of rock in the channel via chiseling
  • Breaking old quay walls with the help of chiseling and blasting
  • Extensive port development and expansion projects under challenging sea conditions
  • Approach channel deepening and widening including slope formation.

APSEZL has been steadily increasing its maintenance dredging capability over the past few years. We operate a multitude of maintenance dredging equipment which includes 3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers, a Water Injection Dredger, Grab dredgers and a special dredger for under-berth dredging.

The above equipment is capable of handling all types of maintenance dredging requirements to counter different siltation patterns at ports.

Our latest addition of sister vessels of 8000 cum have proved themselves to be highly efficient dredgers with successful external maintenance dredging projects already executed at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Jaigarh Port, Angre Port, PLL-Dahej, Southern Naval Command- Kochi Port, etc., besides meeting our internal requirements.

APSEZL has ventured into creating and maintaining India's National Waterways. We have recently taken up three distinct projects in the National Waterway 1(NW1). The projects involve deployment of 6 smaller CSD's over a 300 km stretch of NW1. Our fleet is supported by extensive offshore, onshore support equipment along with the requisite ancillary equipment and pipelines.
