Dighi Port has vast infrastructures which handles multiple types of Cargo. With deep draft berths and multipurpose terminals, the port efficiently handles the largest bulk carriers in the world. The port has covered and open storage areas with enormous capacity. Excellent cargo evacuation and receiving infrastructure support smooth cargo movement in and out of the port.

The multipurpose terminal in Dighi has covered godowns and open yards for storage of large volumes of cargo. Open yards, with a total area of 1.2 Lac Sq.Mtrs., have been earmarked for minerals, timber, steel and project cargo. The liquid terminal has a tank-farm having capacity of 62000 KL storage facility to products ranging from Petroleum Oils, Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Vegetable oils.

Cargo can be received and evacuated by road and pipelines.

The port has 4 -lane road connectivity allowing easy movement of cargo to and from the port.

Dighi is an all-weather port with high degree of operational efficiency and direct berthing facility thus, making it a port of choice for trade and ensuring uninterrupted and smooth operations. Dighi can handle Liquid, Breakbulk, RO-RO, Project Cargo Vessels, Panamax and partly loaded cape size vessels. Agardanda terminal have facility of 650m quay length having facility of handling bulk, break-bulk, container and project cargo. Dighi terminal have quay length of 650m multipurpose berth to facilitate bulk, break-bulk, liquid, container, and Project cargo.

Multi-Modal Connectivity by Road & Rail to the National Grid.

Rail

Krishnapatnam Rail Co Ltd (KRCL) is a SPV formed for rail connectivity to port. It comprises 26 km of electrified double line connecting the port to Venkatachalam Road Junction which has access to Chennai – Kolkata trunk route. Further there is rail connectivity of additional 91 Km from Venkatachalam to Obuluvaripalle. This rail line will reduce the distance between the port and the regions of south-eastern Karnataka and south-western Andhra Pradesh by 70 km, thereby saving substantial freight cost. Internal Rail Network of 52 Km with 60 rakes in/out a day capacity.

Road

Dighi Port is having road connectivity to state highway as below.

  • Agardanda Terminal: NH548A of approx. 44 KM is connected to Mumbai-Goa Highway NH66 at Indapur.
  • Dighi Terminal: NH 753F of approx. 55 Km long is connected to Mumbai-Goa Highway NH66 at Mangaon.

Air

Dighi port is having Mumbai airport and Pune Airport in the nearby vicinity.

The terminal infrastructure at the port is capable of simultaneously handling multiple vessels of different class. For dry cargo, a set of high capacity Grab Ship Unloaders (GSUs), and Mobile Harbors Cranes ensure quick discharge and loading of vessels. support equipment such as excavators, pay loaders and mobile equipment ensure uninterrupted and smooth operations across the entire terminal. Dighi port have dedicated facility for storage of CRC and HRC Steel coil. For liquid cargo, pipelines of varying size and types enable efficient handling marine tankers. Dighi port have proper facility to handle bitumen with dedicated storage and heating facility.
